The head of the Union of Municipalities of al Fayhaa, Engineer Wael Zmerli, along with Tripoli Municipal Council member Engineer Bilal Hussein, participated in community consultation meetings dedicated to the residents of the neighbourhoods of Al-Qobbeh, Abi Samra, and Jabal Mohsen. These meetings were held at the Shift Association center in the Latifa (Al-Baqar) neighbourhood, which separates Al-Qobbeh from Jabal Mohsen, and were conducted in separate sessions for each area.
During these meetings, the main local challenges and ways to address them were discussed, in collaboration with the local community and the city’s expatriates. Special emphasis was placed on the solid waste management file and ways to improve it at the level of the concerned neighbourhoods.
The organization of these meetings comes within the framework of the “Tripoli Peace Initiative: Maintaining Stability in Lebanon” project, funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund, implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with Shift Association and the Municipality of Tripoli, and in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
