Zmerli receives the employees of the Union of Municipalities of al Fayhaa after their sit-in and affirms an open-door policy and addressing the crisis.
The President of the Union of Municipalities of al Fayhaa, Engineer Wael Zmrli, received the union’s employees and workers following the protest they staged this morning to demand justice and guarantee their rights amid difficult living conditions.
The meeting was attended by the head of the General Labour Union in the North, Captain Shadi Al-Sayed, who had previously monitored the protest. The employees expressed their suffering due to not receiving their salaries for nearly four months, in addition to the repercussions of the weather conditions and the deteriorating state of the buildings, as well as the recent government decisions regarding employee salaries, which have increased their living burdens.
During the meeting, Engineer Wael Zmrli confirmed his adoption of an “open-door” policy in addressing the demands, emphasising his commitment to directly listening to the employees’ concerns and requests, despite the difficult financial conditions the union is experiencing.
He indicated that work is underway to resolve the crisis within a period not exceeding one month, affirming his commitment to follow up on this issue until practical solutions are reached that ensure the rights and stability of the workers.
Zmerli also emphasised the necessity of registering all workers in the National Social Security Fund and providing them with healthcare, considering these rights fundamental and non-negotiable, due to their role in preserving workers’ dignity and enhancing their job and social stability.
